  • Overall leadership to ensure effective delivery of Plan International’s operations, including programs and emergency responses.
  • Lead strategic direction in alignment with Plan International Mozambique Country Strategy, ensuring that Plan’s values and commitment to children’s rights and gender equality are embedded in all activities.
  • Overseeing programme implementation, and supporting business development to drive sustainable impacts for marginalized children, especially girls.
  • Support strategic planning, management, and evaluation of programs ensuring alignment with global quality frameworks and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Sponsorship Program

  • Oversee the implementation of two Emergency Response Projects in Child Protection, Food Security and Wash and two development projects

  • Directly supervised approximately 6 junior staff members, and Indirectly provided guidance to Approximately 30 staff members on implementation of strategies to improve performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Break Free Program , a collaborative initiative led by Plan International Netherlands, SRHR Africa Trust (SAT), and the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) whose objective was to improve the Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and well-being of adolescents, promote gender equality, and empower women and girls. The project was being implemented across nine African countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia
  • Coordination of the overall country program implementation in cooperation with three Break Free! consortium partners and local implementation partners.
  • Coordination of partners ensuring cooperation and good partnership in the BF! country Consortium.
  • Initiating (quarterly) coordination/monitoring meetings with the BF! Consortium partners in-country.
  • Organize country planning, monitoring, reflection and learning meetings
  • Facilitate and oversee processes of joint annual monitoring, review and planning, including country involvement in baseline, Mid Term Review and evaluation.
  • Monitor the quality of the M&E process.

  • Management of The Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) whose objectives were to ensure access to sexual and reproductive rights especially for girls;
  • Overall project management (Planning, implementation and budget management of the MHM project;
  • Responsible for training relevant project personnel (Plan and partners) on menstrual hygiene and management;
  • Supervise MHM awareness activities in schools and communities
  • Articulate with schools with a view to enriching the school curriculum with MHM issues, including education for girls on how to produce low-cost sanitary pads from locally available materials;
  • Facilitate the introduction of the production of low-cost sanitary Pads in the VSLA group as one of the income-generating activities, including support in the preparation of business plans.
  • Lead the construction / rehabilitation process of girl-friendly toilets and water supplies to ensure good menstrual hygiene management and disposal of used materials

Achievements include

  • Improved knowledge on MHM both by communities as well as by adolescents and young people
  • Efective budget Management, ensuring resource allocation for maximum project success.

  • Sub-agreements management under The Clinical and Community HIV/AIDS Services Strengthening (CHASS) project that was designed to improve the quality, coverage and effectiveness of high-impact, evidence-based HIV/AIDS interventions in four provinces in Mozambique: Manica, Niassa, Sofala and Tete.
  • Coordinate and participate in the internal and external planning processes and meetings with key departments of the Provincial health directorate (DPS), districts and CBOs.
