I am a 23 year old Mozambican, currently living with my Mother and Sister at Maputo, Mozambique. I am a 3rd-year Medical Student, Model and Content Creator.
During free times, I enjoy singing, cooking, planning out content ideas, learning more about human disease and abnormalities as well as cleaning the house.
As an english club facilitator, my main goal and responsibility is to help my club members communicate and discuss in certain topics such as Human rights, Health and Nutrition, Jobs and working conditions, Health and HIV and so much more in English. I aimed in volunteering as an English club facilitator because I noticed that Mozambique lacks access in English learning, not everyone has the capability to afford an english education. English does open lots of doors and opportunities and I want to see my community succeed in their areas of interest.
I managed to improve my public speaking skills, entertain my members with icebreakers as well us motivate them to practice and learn more by allowing them speak more and do presentations at least every 2 weeks.
The General Anatomy course took place at the University of Eduardo Mondlane - Faculty of Medicine. It consisted of a combined theoretical and practical study in which the professor introduced concepts on the human anatomy such as: Anatomic positions, Ventral, Dorsal and Medail plans, types of movement and etc. In the practical study, a tour through the faculty was done to introduce the anatomy of a dead body, bones, lungs, abnormal heart structure and etc.
I gained so much knowledge on how to conserve body parts by using formaldehyde, and the history of human anatomy.
The General Anatomy course took place at the University of Eduardo Mondlane - Faculty of Medicine. It consisted of a combined theoretical and practical study in which the professor introduced concepts on the nasal bleeding such as; Epistaxis, causes and how to treat it. In the practical study, a tour through a room in which it was demonstrated how to position a patient in a beed to control nasal bleeding through the use of cloth, a small lamp to allow visibility and correct positioning of the doctor.
I participated as a runway model at a local Mall called Baia mall. After my successful participation at the Mozambique Fashion Week Event in 2021 and being featured in Mozambique Fashion Week social media pages for campaign, I was selected to participate at this event as a runway model for the Mall's Brands and clothing shops such as Mr. Price, Brecho da Suneyla, AG Fashion store, Areiabranca and so much more.
My participation at the the MODA BAIA event strongly boosted my confidence as an individual, as a person with Albinism, I managed to successfully inspire and make a great impact in my community.
I participated in the Mozambique Fashion Week in 2021, 2022 and 2023 because I have always enjoyed taking pictures and enjoy wearing heels when I go out. In 2021, I was also selected to participate on the campaign for Mozambique Fashion Week and was featured across all their social media platforms.
As I have a condition called Albinism - affecting my eyesight and color, hair color and skin color, I saw this event as a perfect opportunity to inspire others, make them believe more in themselves, no matter the obstacles.
Mozambique Fashion Week changed me so much, it helped me grow in several ways; I managed to become moore confident inside and outside, I managed to gain a better posture, and positively share my story in TV shows and school presentations.
In 2021, I worked as a Marketing consultant for Inuka - which is a perfume brand to strengthen my knowledge on marketing as I do wish to have my skincare brand in the future for people who have skin pathologies and abnormalities.
My main role was to explain my clients about Inuka; what kind of brand is Inuka, which types of perfumes they have for both male and female, as well as let them know about promotional prices.
I managed to gain advertising skills, manage social media and be creative when creating a specific content.
During the pandemic, I took the opportunity of participating in a Trash Reduction Challenge virtually with many other students worldwide.
I was challenged to reduce waste products and reorganize my wardrobe and kitchen utensils, create a meal without the use of plastic, use non-plastic utensils and so much more.
Throughout this activity, I adapted new skills such as being able to think critically through my actions in my volunteer services and being able to think out of the box by means of how I can improve in taking care of my community through the reduction of plastic waste as well as educate the people around me the best way to protect our community.
Because I had a bad posture and was curious about dancing, I decided to enroll myself at a dancing school i 2019.
I learned and performed various types of dances such as Ballet, Afro dances, Samba, Hip hop and so much more.
Although I ended up noticing that I did not have a great passion for dancing, I was satisfied that I was capable to correct my posture and letting off go my fear of dancing in front of many people.
During my high school, I challenged myself in participating at Creative Writhing sessions twice a week because I wanted to learn the skills on how to write better essays during my English language and literature lessons.
I successfully learned the use of figure of speech used in poems and literatures such as hyperbole, metaphors and etc. I also learned the difference between Formal and Informal text and language.
During high school, I volunteered myself as a library assistant at a local Garden called Jardim dos Professores in 2019.
I assisted people of all ages who were interested in reading a certain type of book such as science-fiction, romance or a child-learning book. I also organized books in alphabetical order and specific categories.
In September of 2019, I volunteered to advertise my high school - Enko Riverside International School at a local mall Baia Mall.
My main role was to explain which curriculum the school offered, extracurricular activates that could be done and how it was a great school for teenagers to invest on before going to university.
I volunteered to clean the Beach together with my friends for 4 hours as we did believe that Mozambique had a lot of trash outside and we had the responsibility and chance to make a positive change.
I mainly used big black plastic bags to collect the glasses, papers and plastic bottles to avoid sand and water pollution for the safety of marine animals and people in my community.
In the beginning of 2018, I challenged myself in learning how to cook and bake at a cooking school.
I learned how to cook rice, bake cake, make doughnuts and so much more.
At the beginning of 2016 and 2017, I donated clothes in a local orphanage together with my church mates and teachers.
I did see a great importance in helping other people in need, and for this reason, I volunteered myself to participate in clothing donation.
As an eagerly curious person when it comes to learning, I decided to take french lessons in 2015 at the language Institute at Maputo.
I believe that the more you learn and expose yourself out there, the more you grow and more opportunities you get. As I have an Aunt and cousins living in France, I did challenge myself to practice French with them as much as I could, they were my motivation.
I watched lots of dance shows during my teenage years, and for this reason, I did dance and gymnastics.
When I was a child, one of my hobbies was stretching off my body every morning and every evening because I wanted to become flexible and a professional dancer. Although I enjoyed dancing and doing gymnastics, a part of me felt that dance was not really for me.
I 2014, I challenged myself in learning Karate mainly because I did believe that it was important to learn how to defend myself in any physical fight just in case it happened.
I did not stay for a very long time doing Karate because it was not my passion, but I did learn great defense mechanisms.
During my primary school, I participated in overnight camping mainly because I was curious on the activities I could explore at night and see what I could learn from them.
The activities done were cooking, treasure hunt game, swimming and play basketball, at the end, we would have awards for the best team in each category.
I learned how to use coal to cook at camping, as well as learned how to be quick and flexible while looking for sweets at treasure hunting.
